"Discover your voice and inspire others to express theirs."
What Carl thinks (Vocal coach and singing teacher) literally and figuratively. Finding your own singing voice can mean so much more, because it is yours Voice and yours Expression in daily life.
The founder and CEO of the "CK Voice Lessons" school was born Carl Keaton Jr. in 1970 into a musically committed and lively home. His father Karl Keaton, a celebrated soul singer from St. Louis/Missouri, was full of pride in his first-born. From the very beginning, he shared his passion for soul and R'n'B with him, letting him into the record cabinet and showing him his skills.
In 1973, the Keaton family moved to Germany to a town with 20,000 inhabitants in the Upper Palatinate. The expected culture shock did not materialize, as the environment in which Carl Keaton grew up was dominated by one third Germans and two thirds Americans who were stationed as soldiers in the Upper Palatinate. It was only when he started school in a German school and made friends there that Carl recognized the cultural differences between Germany and the USA as an enrichment.
In terms of music, Carl grew up with AFN Radio and music from the States. The local youth club, on the other hand, opened up the world of German-language pop music culture to him, with well-known names such as Falco and Kraftwerk. All these specific influences and, above all, his irrepressible curiosity about music and his interest in making music himself have made Carl Keaton what he is today: an experienced singer, songwriter, producer and committed vocal coach. The latter is perhaps his most far-reaching commitment with heart, which fulfills him every day!
"I now pass on this acquired, experienced and self-taught knowledge to my students as a vocal coach and singing teacher. My studio and live experience is particularly useful here!"
(Carl Keaton)
When you ask Carl why he has made it his mission to help other people develop their own unique singing voice, you quickly realize that he is motivated by a loving dedication - and compassion for the wishes and goals of others who want to learn to sing.
Carl came to the Ruhr area in 1990 and gained his first studio experience. "I Just Can't Believe", released by Sony/Epic and was his first single released under the artist name "K'Ron". The song ran successfully in 1997 in numerous rotations on the radio, on MTV and VIVA. Standing still has never been Carl's thing. A year later, he made his debut as a producer for the group "Solid", then signed by X-Cell Records in 1999.
Nevertheless, he remained true to his solo career and continued to produce under his own name "Carl Keaton Jr."including the second single release with Ole "Turn it on" of the album "Ole Soul" and a song for the album "Food for the soul" the Jazzkantine.
In 2003, Carl joined the ranks of the "Peppermint Jam artists", including James Kakande, and produced his album "Soulistik" in Mousse T's studio in Hanover. He brought music greats on board such as Till Brönner, Lutz Krajenski or David Haynes and Hans-Martin Buff, who had already proven their skills for Prince, for example.
Carl can look back on countless live experiences: among other things, he supported Roachford on the "Word of Mouth Tour" and shared the stage with international and national stars such as R. Kelly and Joy Denalane.
As a songwriter, he has already written for various film soundtracks and album songs: for the soundtrack to the films "Ne günstige Gelegenheit" and "Lammbock". In 2012, he co-wrote and co-produced Onita Boone's album "Onita", the winner of the TV format "The Winner is ..." on Sat1. The album reached number two in the UK Soul Charts. In 2013 he was the singer and producer of the "Kingston Crew". The single "Don't you know it's true" was released in eight European countries.
His striving for balance and added value, his self-taught experience and training make Carl Keaton an outstanding vocal coach with a sure instinct.
Over the past decade, Carl Keaton has imparted his knowledge to hundreds of students over thousands of hours and has taken some of them to the final rounds of many a casting show, as well as coaching singers in renowned choirs and bands with major deals. He is the guide that will lead you to your personal vocal goal.
"I see and recognize the wishes, goals and, last but not least, the prerequisites of my students - this empathy and my decades of experience together result in what I pass on to my students as a vocal coach. And can I tell you something? It fulfills me and gives me an incredible amount of joy!"
