September 2022: With every step, her feet sink into the dark lava sand, Katrin (Vocal coach and singing teacher) She’s making her first significant mark on the music world. She’s walking along the surf at Reynisfjara Beach in Iceland with her bandmate Chris. But not just for fun. They’re in front of the camera filming one of their first music videos for the song "Cold," the first single from their current album "Ø." By the way, the band is called Pølar.

But music first had to find its way into her life.
Katrin’s life began, surprisingly, without much of a musical bent; it wasn’t until she was 12 that she discovered the guitar. Until then, however, she often turned to writing as a way to express her creativity. Fantasy stories, letters to Santa Claus—writing was a constant companion throughout her early school years.
So it’s hardly surprising that she’s already using her guitar playing—with just four chords—to write songs. And that’s also how she got started singing. Her first steps, you might say, but it wasn’t going to stop there.
She boldly experimented with her voice and, at age 15, came to the conclusion that she wanted to pursue professional vocal training. But there was a major hurdle to overcome: she had a horse. Riding and singing? She couldn’t do both. In the end, she chose singing and sold the horse.
Inspired by Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, and Paramore, she began to discover her voice. Barely a year later, she was singing in the school band and playing rhythm guitar. Shortly thereafter, she was already entertaining crowds at Christmas markets and town festivals with her voice. She also never missed a school band contest, placing third once and first once alongside her bandmates.
After graduating from high school, she knew for certain: "I want to make a career out of singing!" To show just how serious she was about her goal, she launched her solo project, "Kaddi." It was one of the highlights of her still-young career as a singer. Cover songs are out of the question for her; she sings only her own material.
She began her studies at the same time at the Vocational School of Music in Dinkelsbühl. Later, she studied at the Institute of Music in Osnabrück, specializing in pop singing.
In 2021, Katrin and Chris formed the duo Pølar. But her solo project is also moving into the next phase with an EP.
Of course, a job without music is out of the question. Katrin was already being prepared for teaching during her vocal training. And she’s a very people-oriented person. So her path to vocal coaching was clearly laid out.
"I like people, and I think singing is a very mental activity—that's what makes teaching so personal and so much fun."
