Betsy (Vocal Coach and Singing Instructor) • Chicago, the city of the „Blues Brothers“ and the inspiration for the musical of the same name, was Betsy Miller’s hometown. That’s how dance and music became her inspiration in life from a very young age. „Music saved my life,“ as she says. „Every day I realize that music makes all the difference for me—it’s not just what keeps me going; life is so much more.“
The early experiences that shaped her singing career were simple moments, such as the time she picked up the guitar that was actually meant for her mother, and later, when she managed to perform her first original song with it. Concerts by Joni Mitchell and Carole King—two artists who influenced Betsy’s path and style—fueled her creative flow. They sparked her career as a professional musician.
She came to Europe when she was about 18, with nothing but a guitar and the bare essentials.
She soon became an integral part of German bands and enriched their musical style, as well as their cultural landscape. Today, she says she has found her second home in the Hanseatic city of Hamburg, where she still lives and works. For example, as a musical theater singer in *The Buddy Holly Story*, playing Maria Elena’s aunt and Vi Petty. She also toured throughout Europe and the U.S. for ten years with the Berlin Dance Orchestra. Anyone who thinks that’s all there is to it is mistaken.
Betsy is a true all-around talent when it comes to self-expression. She lends her voice to commercials and children’s books and works as a voice actress in her native language, English. For ten years, singing into a studio microphone was also her daily bread. She recorded up to ten songs—or, more precisely, karaoke playbacks—in a single day’s session. Among the highlights of her studio career so far have been gigs as a background vocalist for Sarah Brightman and Mark Wahlberg. These are just a few of the standout moments in her dynamic career.
However, one thing that has remained a constant thread throughout all these years is her impressive dedication as a vocal teacher. Betsy teaches singing, offering private lessons and group workshops in the genres of pop and musical theater for all skill levels.

She has been part of the team of vocal coaches at the CK Voice Academy since 2015. She tailors her decades of experience to each of her students, helping them improve in specific ways. And let’s not forget that „feel-better-afterward“ feeling!
