Amor - Ivanna - Live Session
Ivana
"I don't want to dictate anything to my students, we want to find and develop their natural voice together."
"Mom, I'm going to be a superstar!" There was no question that Ivana (Vocal coach and singing teacher) will make it big later on. She was just seven at the time. "I was a huge fan of Hana Montana, I bought all the CDs and DVDs. Then I stood in front of the mirror with a hairbrush in my hand and performed Montana's songs."
This is how she stands on her self-conceived stage and this is where she lays the foundations for her singing career. Before that, her focus was on the recorder, violin and piano.
Her first broken relationship prompted her to write her debut song "Smile". "From then on, I wrote songs regularly, more for myself - because there wasn't much else to do with music in the small town in Middle Franconia," Ivana adds.
While her mother is one of the less musical ones, her father enjoys making music, with the emphasis on enjoying it. Singer-songwriters such as Udo Lindenberg and Rio Reiser echo through the house. And Rio Reiser also became one of Ivana's first musical inspirations.
In her teenage years, she influenced singers such as Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber.
"I've always enjoyed listening to music, but I never wanted to sound like anyone else, I wanted to find my own voice. These musicians weren't role models in the traditional sense - when I make music or write songs, I draw on my creativity - I've always felt very strongly about my music."
Today, Ivana is mainly influenced by German artists, including Esther Graf, Alli Neumann, Mine and Madeline Juno are among the current highlights of her treasure trove of inspiration.
When asked which sentence best describes what making music means to her, she says: "When I sing, I feel alive, I just feel completely myself," she adds, beaming.
Her first single "Blau" under the eponymous artist name IVANA can already be streamed on all popular platforms. And there's more to come. Keep an eye out for where she can be seen on stage!
"That's what fulfills me the most - the part of making music when I compose without any guidelines."
She took several steps on her vocal education path, first learning classical singing due to a lack of available pop education, until she experienced the key moment in her singing career to date at 16.
She wins the entrance examination against 59 applicants. This marks the start of a three-year vocational training course to become a pop singer at the vocational school for music in Dinkelsbühl. Incidentally, the third year is a pedagogical one - so Ivana will also be qualified as a singing teacher when she graduates.
She is currently studying pop singing at the University of Music, Drama and Media in Hanover.
When it comes to teaching, she fills the room with her warmth. She is particularly good with people of all kinds, she loves working with budding singers, you could say she really blossoms.
Ivana teaches intuitively and responds individually to her students.
"I don't want to dictate anything to my students, we want to find and develop their natural voice together."
She does a great job and always gives the right amount of input, according to her pupils.
